After noticing a number of issues with the iPhone, Apple keeps sending two new firmware builds to selected developers for addressing specific issues in the iPhone 3G and the first generation iPhone with software version 2.0.
Though Firmware 2.1 for iPhone is not the unexpected release, many claim it to be unexpected. It offers few notable improvements over the initial release of the GPS performance.
Developed jointly by AT&T, Firmware 2.0.1 is a bugfix release for users of both generations of the iPhone who faced issues with stability and accelerometer on the Apple 3G.
