There is great news headed for all the users of iPod as Apple recently announced that various classic models including iPod Nano will be available at a discounted price. Moreover, Apple will soon showcase its next generation hardware for iPods with improved features in an upcoming music themed event.
There has been an unprecedented fall in the prices of iPod models recently, which has only made them more affordable. Apart from iPod shuffle you would find that there has been a drastic fall in the overall prices of the iPod models when you visit the U.S. online Apple store. However, it appears that the new prices have taken effect only on the U.S. online store as the other international stores of Apple still has the old price points at the time of the press release.
So, the discount now means that you can save around $40 on purchase of 8GB iPod Touch and 16GB iPod Nano. A decent saving of $20 on 8GB iPod Nano and 120GB iPod Classic and as much as $120 on 32GB iPod Touch.
The change in the prices means that the sale of 32GB Zune HD will get increasingly difficult. This may have been done deliberately by Apple to steer away the prospective buyers of the 16GB Zune HD. It is hard to fathom the ideology behind the discount strategy of Apple. It could either be a way to clear out their stock or of making sure that current generation iPod exist with their upcoming pricier line.
