If you were thinking to get an iPod for yourself or for any of your near and dear ones, this seems to be just the right time. Core Group, the Apple product seller has recently confirmed that there would be a significant drop in the prices of the iPod across its various ranges. Though the local distributor fail to give any reasons for the reduction in the prices, sources at ZA store confirmed that the positive dollar shipment was the reason for the dropped prices. ZA is the online retail platform of Core Group.
According to one of the pricing executives of Core Group, the company had given instructions to the sales executives to reduce the prices of the iPod by R500 to R1000 without giving any definite reason for the same. The iPod Shuffle though would be the only model that has not gone under any change in its price. Core Group has been getting the stick for its pricing policy and application of high profit margins.
The Executive Director of Core Group RJ van Spaandonk felt that it was not correct to make a comparison between the Apple local prices and the ones that are there in the US. The reason being the company acquires its Apple products from Europe and not from the US. He therefore insisted that a price comparison with EU based territories would provide accurate information. The reduction in the prices would definitely be welcomed by the Apple fans and those who are in iPod related market.
