invite-090831 Keeping up with the customs of the company, Apple sent out invitations via e-mail to the members of the press for an event called the iPod centric for the 9th of September. The month of September is usually marked with the launch of new iPod models which was even seen last year when Apple launched the nanochromatic iPod Nanos and the second generation iPod Touch. The event this year is expected to start at 10 a.m. Pacific Time on Sept 9 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.

Rumors are that Apple would take this opportunity to unveil the new versions of iPod Nano and iPod Touch digital music players which also have 3.2 megapixel cameras. There are also chances that iTunes9 with social networking feature would be introduced at the event. There are reports suggesting that the upcoming version of the Apple’s media player would be able to support the playback of Blu-ray disc.

The September 9 date has also sparked off rumors that The Beatles discography would make its long awaited appearance on iTunes. The reason being, the Wednesday is the same day when the band is expected to release its complete catalog along with the game The Beatles: Rock Band. There is also a possibility that a touchscreen tablet might be launched at the event, but there are also speculations that Apple may hold it back for Christmas. The slogan of the event is “it’s only rock and roll, but we like it”.
