The iPhone Dev Team has brought some wonderful news for the entire jailbreak community with the release of the latest version of redsn0w which makes jail breaking your iPhone and iPod touch very easy. Redsn0w is compatible with all OS versions and with iPhone and iPod touch of all generations.

The new version can be used from Mac OS and could also be used with Linux in the near future. The version does not require you to take the help of iTunes when it comes to jailbreaking your device. Earlier, custom firmware like the PwangeTool was needed to re-load the firmware required for jailbreaking.

This latest version also prevents the upgradation of baseband of the iPhone. This ability allows the users to update freely without risking the accidental bricking of their phones. Redsn0w has the ability to modify the OS file system of the iPhone and can also install Cydia. This opens the entire world of jailbroken applications to the users. This version also lets the users change the boot logos of an already jailbroken device and enables the users to revert to the logos apart from switching the verbose booting on or off. 

The latest models of some of the devices which have MC as their serial number still require Tetherd boot. Redsn0w can be used whenever the battery runs out.
