Apple is all set to release its second major update for iPhone and iPod Touch in Firmware 3.0. Although, it is a great piece of news for all iPhone and iPod Touch users, the iPod touch users may feel a little unhappy because there is a charge of $.9.95 for them if they want to upgrade to OS 3.0. There is no such charge for the iPhone users as all 2G and 3G users can upgrade to iPhone firmware 3.0 for free.
But there is no reason for the iPod users to get disheartened because once apple makes the release of OS 3.0 you can also update iPod Touch 3.0 firmware for free by following some easy steps. You will first have to download iTunes 8.2 and install it followed by the download of iPod Touch 1G and 2G Firmware 3.0 IPSW. You have to make sure though that the downloaded file is in .ipsw extension.

Apple came up with the iTunes 8.2.1 update to make the program more stable. The stability of the program would be further enhanced as this update is aimed at fixing the bugs which threaten the stability of the overall program. The update will also fix some of the concerns that are associated with the verification of the devices made by Apple.
After noticing a number of issues with the iPhone, Apple keeps sending two new firmware builds to selected developers for addressing specific issues in the iPhone 3G and the first generation iPhone with software version 2.0.
